Henry Pace and his wife Susan were the landlords of the Station Hotel in Melton from 1897 to 1916. After Henry’s death in 1904, their only son, George, moved his family from London to Melton to help his mother run the hotel. George was married to Mary Ann and they had three sons: Claud, Percy, and Harold.
In 1916, George died and was buried at Melton Old Church where he was later joined by his wife in 1945. Two of their sons, Claud and Percy, served in the army during the First World War. Harold was too young, having been born in 1914.
