Edward King and his wife Rosa (née Dickerson) lived in Bromeswell, Suffolk. They had eleven children, two of whom died in childhood. In 1911, the family lived in Red Cottages, Bromeswell, but moved to 16 Prospect Place, Melton, during the First World War.
Edward and his three eldest sons, Frederick William, John Edward and James, all served during the war. Frederick William did not return. Two of Rosa’s brothers, Arthur and George, also served during the war. George died in Italy in 1918 from influenza.
