Horace was born on 17th June 1900 in St John’s Wood, London. In 1918, he was working as a Grocer’s assistant. Horace enlisted in the services on his eighteenth birthday and joined 51st Battalion Rifle Brigade, a training battalion, which in June 1918, was based on Foxhall Heath, Ipswich. Horace transferred to the Tank Corps before being demobilised on 28th November 1919.
In 1928, Horace married Evelyn Spoor and, by 1939, they were living on Old Barrack Road, Woodbridge. At that time, Horace worked as a grocery and provisions shop manager. He died in 1984.
