The only daughter of Sir Richard and Lady Agnes Farren, Annie Primrose Farren, was born in Great Bealings in 1891. She began active service as a full-time Red Cross volunteer in October 1914 and was based from October 1914 to November 1914 at Ampton Hall near Bury St Edmunds. Annie also assisted her mother looking after wounded Belgians in their home, Stoneylands, in Great Bealings.
Following a series of short postings at other military hospitals, she served at Foxborough Hall between December 1915 and August 1916 before moving on to continue in the same line of work at other locations. Annie also worked in the Central Prisoner of War unit with her mother. In recognition of her service, Annie Primrose was recommended for the Red Cross Roll of Honour and four War Service Bars indicating that she had worked continuously for the Red Cross for fifty-two months.
Annie remained single and died in 1940 while a resident at Croft House in Hastings.
