Edward born in Thorpe St Andrew, Norfolk on 11th September 1921. His parents were Lieutenant-Colonel George Nigel Miller (Indian Army) and his wife, Dorothea Ella (née Robinson). In 1939 they were living at Seymours, Leeks Hill, Melton.
Edward was commissioned into the Northamptonshire Regiment and was sent to Egypt attached to the 5th Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment who were in the 69th Infantry Brigade of the 50th (Northumbrian) Division.
On 25th October, Edward and the 5th Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment took part in the Second Battle of El Alamein with the battalion being involved in diversionary attacks to the south of the main battle area. It was during the fighting that Edward and twenty one other men died.
He is remembered on the Alamein Memorial in Egypt.
