Violet was born on 6th February 1897 in Watford, Hertfordshire.

During the First World War, she became a member of the No.2 Suffolk Voluntary Aid Detachment. Violet worked at several Red Cross auxiliary hospitals across the country: for three weeks in August 1915, she worked at Foxborough Hall Hospital in Melton before moving to Finborough Hall Hospital near Stowmarket.

Records also show that Violet worked at Kinbroon Auxiliary Hospital at Rothienorman in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

In 1939, she was living in Fayrefield Road, Melton. Violet remained single and died in Haughgate Medical Nursing Home, Woodbridge, in 1986, at the age of eighty-nine. She is buried at Melton Old Church.
