George Osborne married Rhebe King in 1879 starting their married life in Bromeswell. The couple had eight children, three of whom died in childhood. Their other five children were named Elizabeth, William George, Hannah Eliza, Alfred Charles and Francis Wilfred Ernest.
By 1887, the family had moved to Valley Farm on Doe’s Alley where Rhebe died in 1904. The rest of the family remained there until after the war was over. Two sons, William and Francis, both served in the First World War. Their other son, Alfred, had joined the navy in 1910 and died three years later after falling down a hatchway onboard a tender to HMS Vernon. Hannah, their daughter, married Robert Bruce Pyke who also served during the war.
