Arthur Turnour Murray married Nora Alice Maxwell at All Saints Church in Paddington on the 7th August 1888. At the time, Arthur was a barrister working from chambers in Lincoln’s Inn. In 1891, Arthur and Nora were living together in Radnor Place, Paddington, with their two-year-old daughter, Phyllis, and baby son, Patrick. By 1901, the family had moved to Watford and lived in Stratford Lodge with four more daughters: Marjorie Helen, Elsie Nora, Joan Adela and Violet Irene. In 1902 another daughter Noel Letitia was born. Sadly, another son named Alan, born in 1892, died aged six. During this period, their elder son, Patrick, attended school at Gisburne House in Watford.
By 1914, the family had moved to Melton and were living at The Red Towers on Yarmouth Road. After the war was over, Arthur became chairman of the War Memorial Committee, overseeing the construction of the Melton War Memorial. The Murrays continued to live in Melton, moving to Bredfield Cottage in the late 1920s. It was here that Nora died in 1929 and Arthur in 1935. They are both buried at Melton Old Church where there is an inscription on their headstone commemorating all the members of the family.
