James Reach and Elizabeth Goodchild were married in Ipswich in 1891. They had three children, Albert Victor, James John and Ernest Frank. Albert and Ernest served in the Great War and it is likely their brother James did too, despite there being no records available attributable to him. In 1911, the family lived in Hackney Villa on Hackney Road and both Albert and his father James were working as bakers at St Audry’s Hospital. James John was unemployed, while Ernest was still at school.
